Criminal Investigations Appear to Increase Relating to Mortgage Fraud

Our office has received a number of calls from federal, state and local prosecutors, who are investigating mortgage fraud, which led to foreclosures. We also recently noted that a Pennsylvania manager of a loan company in Pennsylvania was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay almost $1,000,000 arising out of mortgage fraud. Most of these fraud claims arise out of a submission to lenders of loan applications containing false information and/or applications, which were supported by falsified, forged or altered documents. One common issue is submission of a fraudulent lease or misrepresented and unsupported income or gifts.
